The social media echo chamber

Yesterday I came across an interesting term: "the social media echo chamber". This is addressing the redundancy we're seeing in social media today. Do a Google blog search on a topic within social media and you'll be sure to find more than five blogs that have virtually the same content. Unique content is a sight for soar eyes and thirsty brains. There are some content providers that seems to be on everybody's list: Chris Brogan, Guy Kawasaki, Liz Strauss, Darren Rowse and a few others. These can be regarded as the leaders within their field as leadership is all about creating followership (to quote one of my professors).
One way to find good content is to look for the source of what everybody are talking about. Another is to aggregate what they are talking about. I mean to try and do both over the coming weeks to get a qualitative and quantitative background for my pre-master thesis. I'll let you know what I find, but for now I'm just drowning in the same content from so many different sources that I'm starting to question whether social media is actually making thins easier, anybody share that feeling?
Btw: true to the topic, I've used quotes and cut from other blogs in this post, google "social media chamber" and you'll find 10 blog posts with about the same content as this one...
